Baby Shower Madness

(click on title to read entire post and comments)
The last week we were flooded with a stream of baby shower presents and well wishes. Thank you all for the lovely words and gifts! We are grateful to have so much support from our family and friends. Now I am 36 1/2 weeks along and just a few days from term. Here's a new belly photo.

The nursery is almost ready and will get a few more finishing touches as we head into the new year. We did have a few slight glitches putting together the furniture but we have decided to just make do for now. For those looking to buy their own nursery furniture soon, we do NOT recommend Simplicity's "Nursery in a Box" - it is a three piece set including crib, changing table, and dresser and it is in general a good value, but the set we picked up came with a few broken pieces and a super squeaky side rail on the crib. Hopefully after we grease it up it won't be quite so bad.

My newest hobby is crocheting! After years of hearing how much faster and easier it is than knitting, but never having had the time or patience to sit down and try it, I finally took a day recently to figure it out, once and for all, with the help of Debbie Stoller's crochet manual, The Happy Hooker. Although I'm not sure I agree that it's easier, projects certainly do go a little faster, once you get the hang of it. So here is my own personal contribution to the baby room decor and my crochet debut: a circular rug (and David, exerting all his willpower not to pounce on it).

And some more knit goodies of course.
One complete kimono baby sweater,

and the beginnings of another.
