Doc Dash

(click on title to read entire post and comments)
On Friday, Masha and I ran (well...ran-walked) the annual Doc Dash, a 5K race sponsored by the medical school. It was the first time I attempted running at all since about my second month of pregnancy, and it showed. Although I have been swimming more or less regularly, I really wasn't prepared for such a high-impact full body workout, but it was a good time nonetheless. Masha was a really good sport and held onto my water bottle with a vice grip the whole race. There were plenty of other moms pushing jogging strollers with us (well, mostly ahead of us), but despite finishing well in the lower third of all participants, I am proud to say we did not finish last! In any case, it fulfilled my goal of participating in some sort of race event during my maternity leave, although in my head I always saw myself training ahead of time. Maybe now that I know I'm capable of doing it, I'll start taking Masha out for a couple miles a few times a week. (Maybe.)

Here we are after the race and the picnic that followed. Do we look as tired as we felt? :)
