Still Pregnant?

(click on title to read entire post and comments)
Try some yummy fresh PINEAPPLE to help get your labor started! Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme that aids in digestion and also promotes production of prostaglandins, which ripen the cervix!

If you don't like pineapple, you can always try red raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, homeopathic extracts of Pulsatilla and Caulophyllum, eating spicy foods, bouncing on a birthing ball, walking, or blowing up a balloon! (huh?)

Another touted labor inducing remedy is the “Prego Pizza", created at Skipolini's Pizza in Clayton, California in early 1980’s. A woman who was 4 days overdue jokingly asked for a pizza that would make her have the baby. The chef actually made her a custom pie with six types of meat, fresh vegetables and extra oregano and garlic. She then ate the pizza and gave birth later that night. Basil and oregano are known to have stimulant properties on the uterus, and so may be the secret ingredients of the "Prego Pizza." You can read the original newspaper article here.

So does any of it actually work? Well, after eating a whole pineapple in one sitting, daily 30 minute walks on the tread climber, countless hours knitting while sitting on the birthing ball, drinking many cups of red raspberry leaf tea, and eating lots of chips and salsa...I'm still pregnant. Haven't tried the pizza yet.

Today I am at 38 1/2 weeks. This week's belly photo:

Knitting theme for the week is: hats! to crack down on my overflowing yarn stash.

And among my many UFO's (unfinished objects), I finally finished Ilya's manly sweater vest from last year. More pics to follow.
